New Delhi: Delhi government has announced a one-week long curfew from tonight till next Monday 5 am amid rising Covid-19 cases in the State.
All private offices will Work From Home and only government offices and essential services will be open, sources said.
On Sunday, Delhi recorded the biggest jump in its daily Covid tally with 25,462 fresh cases and a positivity rate of nearly 30 per cent, which means almost every third sample being tested in the city is turning out positive.
In an online briefing, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal cited shortage of oxygen at hospitals, particularly private ones, in Delhi. A private hospital in the city closely missed a tragedy Saturday night due to shortage of oxygen, he said.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government initiated legal action against two city hospitals for turning away Covid-19 patients, a day after Kejriwal warned them of strict action if found giving wrong information about availability of beds.
