Chennai: The Kancheepuram police have arrested four men for allegedly sedating and gang-raping a 20-year-old woman in Melkathirpur village near Chennai.
According to sources, the young woman from Kancheepuram, who works in a mobile showroom, became friends with Gunaseelan (24) through social media.
Gunaseelan introduced himself as a businessman and a realtor. After chatting with her on social media, he started to visit the woman at the showroom where she is working. He promised to find her another job for her in a private firm with a better salary.
On Wednesday, Gunaseelan picked her up from her workplace in his car and took her to his farmhouse near Kancheepuram. Police said she was offered a sedative-laced soft drink.
After she lost consciousness, Gunaseelan and his friends took turns to sexually assault her. The woman gained consciousness and tried to kick and break the window. Hearing the noise, some people from the near the farmland came there and found her naked and two men sexually assaulting her. While the men were arrested, the woman was hospitalised.
Kancheepuram SP M Sudhakar visited the hospital and held an inquiry with the woman
