Extremely heavy rains of above 20.4 cm will also occur for the next two days in North Tamilnadu, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpet district and a red alert has been issued to these districts.
Schools and colleges were declared holiday in many districts today, while local holiday was declared in a few districts.

Heavy rains were also forecast in Cauvery delta districts for the next two days.

Squally wind speed reachign 45-55 kmph and gusting to 65 kmph is likely to prevail over southwest and adjoining west-central bay of bengal for two days from today and along and off TN and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast on 11 November.

Sea condition will be rough to very rough in these areas during the above period and fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea.
