Chennai, June 17:
The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Units at Kalpakkam hosted a high-level outreach programme on the new Labour Codes, aimed at creating awareness about the upcoming regulatory framework governing industrial relations, social security, occupational safety, health, and working conditions.
Inaugurating the programme, Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) Sonal Mishra highlighted the Union Government’s vision of consolidating 29 existing Central Labour Laws into four comprehensive codes.
She emphasized that the reforms focus on simplification and universalisation, introducing digital compliance systems such as the Single Licence, Single Registration, and Single Return systems, along with guaranteed minimum wages and expanded social security coverage for unorganised workers.
Dr. Srinu Dara, Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Chennai, led a detailed technical session covering implementation aspects, wage and gratuity calculations, changes in working hours, enhanced occupational safety standards, and migration to digital compliance platforms.
The programme saw participation from around 150 delegates, including officials from IGCAR, MAPS, BHAVINI, BARC/NRB, NLC, and CPCL, and concluded with an interactive session addressing stakeholder queries.
