Chennai: Even as Tamilnadu’s daily Covid-19 tally dipped to 3,592, 30 of the 38 districts logged fewer than 100 cases each. Another 25 persons succumbed to the infection in the State.
Recoveries eclipsed new cases with 14,182 people getting discharged in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 33,23,214 leaving 66,992 active infections, a medical bulletin said.
Chennai registered 663 cases and nine deaths. The number of active cases in the city stood at 8,955. Coimbatore (654), Chengalpattu (290), Tiruppur (221), Salem (189), Erode (184), among other districts, also contributed most of the cases. Perambalur and Tenkasi recorded the least by adding seven new cases, each.
A total of 1,40,947 persons were vaccinated in the State on Thursday, taking the overall coverage so far to 9,44,75,114.
A total of 1,10,346 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative number of specimens examined to 6,29,80,537, the bulletin said.
