Stalin bats for 100% vaccination in TN


Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has stressed the need to aive 100 per cent vaccination in the State in the light of spurt in Covid cases in Asian and European countries.

The Chief Minister, who chaired a review meeting with senior officials at the State Secretariat and discussed the present Covid status in India and other parts of the world, was briefed about the total number of vaccinations administered in the State.

In a statement here after the meeting, he advised all the district administration and the local body representatives to identify those infected with the virus and their contacts and provide treatment to them, besides ensuring that they get vaccinated.

Stressing the need to get vaccinated, he said till date 50 lakh people in the State were yet to take their first dose of vaccine, while 1.32 crore are due for the second dose.

He urged the local body representatives to coordinate with the district administration and organise mega vaccination camps on Saturdays to cover those due to their first and second jabs.

He also stressed the need identify those above 60 years of age who were yet to get their first and second doses and the precautionary doses and ensure they use the mega camps to get their jabs.

The Chief Minister said the district administration should honour the local body organisations which had ensured 100 per cent vaccination in the district and encourage other local bodies to attn the 100 per cent status.

He also said the guidelines issued by public health experts like samples and genome sequencing should be continued, while complying with social distancing norms, wearing of face masks in public places and hand washing to prevent the spread of the virus.
