With the Lok Sabha elections looming on the horizon, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has embarked on a comprehensive voter awareness campaign aimed at educating citizens about the importance and functionality of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines. Recognizing the critical role of informed electorate in upholding the democratic process, GCC has undertaken proactive measures to disseminate crucial information about VVPATs across Chennai’s bustling public spaces and educational institutions.
In a bid to reach diverse segments of the population, GCC has strategically deployed voter awareness vehicles equipped with voter devices and VVPATs to key locations where crowds frequently converge, including public squares, educational campuses, and community centers. Through interactive demonstrations and informative sessions conducted on board these vehicles, students, community groups, and citizens at large are being afforded the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the functioning of VVPAT machines and the verification process.
