Tragedy struck on Monday morning as former AIADMK MLA E Ravikumar lost his life in a devastating road accident on the Vandalur-Minjur Outer Ring Road near Seemapuram. Ravikumar, aged 63, was driving his car when it collided with the rear of a tipper truck, resulting in his untimely demise. His wife, B Nirmala, also a former AIADMK MLA, sustained injuries in the accident and was rushed to Government Stanley Hospital for medical treatment.
Ravikumar, a prominent figure who represented the Ponneri constituency, and his wife, who served as an MLA for Dindigul, held esteemed positions within the AIADMK between 1991 and 1996. Ravikumar was not only a dedicated politician but also an active functionary of the MGR Mandram in Tiruvallur district, exemplifying his unwavering commitment to public service and party ideals.
The tragic incident occurred as the couple was returning home after dropping off their daughter, Raveena, in Chennai. Raveena, a medical student residing in a hostel in Chennai, had visited her parents at their residence in Thiruvenkatapuram over the weekend. Little did they know that their routine journey would end in such a devastating manner, leaving behind a trail of sorrow and grief.
