Family interest first for DMK, says EPS

In a scathing attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami launched a blistering critique, accusing the party of operating like a corporate entity where power is concentrated within Stalin’s family. Addressing a rally in Nagercoil on Wednesday, Palaniswami questioned Chief Minister Stalin’s commitment to the people of Tamil Nadu, alleging that the DMK prioritizes familial interests over the welfare of the state. Drawing a sharp contrast between the AIADMK and the DMK, Palaniswami highlighted the former’s tradition of promoting grassroots workers to prominent positions within the party. He lamented the lack of upward mobility for cadre within the DMK, accusing the party of using them solely for fieldwork and voter canvassing, while confining decision-making powers to Stalin’s family members. Palaniswami emphasized the AIADMK’s commitment to rewarding hard work and loyalty, contrasting it with what he termed as “sheer dynasty politics” prevalent in the DMK. He pointed to the absence of development projects and the rising cost of essential commodities during the three-year tenure of the DMK government, particularly highlighting the plight of the people in Kanniyakumari district. Furthermore, Palaniswami criticized the DMK government’s handling of law and order issues, alleging a nexus between the administration and the drug mafia. He lamented the deteriorating state of law and order under the current regime, citing it as evidence of the government’s ineffectiveness and failure to uphold public safety. The AIADMK General Secretary’s remarks underscore the intensifying political rhetoric as the state gears up for the upcoming elections.
