Thiruma launches scathing attack on PMK

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president and candidate for the Chidambaram parliamentary constituency, Thol Thirumavalavan, delivered a scathing critique of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), alleging that the party has aligned itself with groups opposed to social justice. Speaking during an INDIA alliance meeting in Chidambaram, Thirumavalavan underscored the importance of unity among those advocating for social justice and highlighted the role of the late DMK leader M Karunanidhi and Chief Minister M K Stalin in fostering this alliance. Thirumavalavan emphasized his commitment to peace and social harmony, asserting that criticism of political parties should not be construed as attacks on particular communities. He defended his party’s stance against the BJP and PMK, stating that such criticism is aimed at safeguarding social justice principles rather than targeting specific communities. Thirumavalavan recounted Minister Paneerselvam’s acknowledgment of the peaceful and inclusive governance in the Chidambaram constituency under his leadership, emphasizing the VCK’s support for inter-reservation policies. Addressing alliances, Thirumavalavan reiterated his party’s refusal to align with the BJP, citing the party’s history of opposing social justice initiatives. He contrasted the BJP’s stance with the efforts of leaders like VP Singh and Ram Vilas Paswan in advocating for OBC reservations. Thirumavalavan expressed concern over PMK’s alliance choices, particularly in opposition to social justice principles. The meeting saw the participation of prominent political figures, including Ministers M R K Paneerselvam and S S Sivasankar, as well as MLAs and alliance party functionaries.
