Celebrate Yoga day in schools, colleges: BJP to TN govt

The BJP state unit called on the ruling DMK government to organize celebrations for International Yoga Day across all schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu. BJP state spokesperson ANS Prasad emphasized the importance of the occasion in a statement, urging the government to actively participate in the global celebration on June 21.

Prasad highlighted that while International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide, including in Gulf countries, the DMK government has shown a lack of interest in promoting the event since coming to power in 2021. He stressed that the government, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, should support the people of Tamil Nadu in fully participating in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, promoting health and happiness.

“Yoga is not bound by any party, religion, language, or caste but is for all people of the world, providing physical strength and inner purity,” Prasad stated. He called for immediate arrangements to be made by both government and private educational institutions to celebrate International Yoga Day.

Furthermore, Prasad urged the School Education Department to ensure that the day is commemorated in all schools across the state. He noted that promoting Yoga would help create awareness about its benefits and encourage a healthier lifestyle among students.
