EPS criticises DMK govt over ration supply shortages

Chennai: AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami raised serious concerns on Tuesday regarding reported shortages of essential items in Tamil Nadu’s ration shops this month.

In a strongly-worded statement, Palaniswami highlighted reports indicating the non-distribution of key essentials such as tur dal and palm oil. “Reports about non-distribution of essential items like tur dal and palm oil in ration shops in Tamil Nadu are worrying,” he stated.

Palaniswami criticized the ruling DMK government, expressing disappointment over the current state of the public distribution system. “It is disheartening to see the state’s ration shops, which had once set historical records in public distribution and served as a model for the nation, facing such a situation now,” he lamented. “I strongly condemn the DMK government for causing this crisis in ration shops, leading to a shortage of essential items.”

The opposition leader called on Chief Minister MK Stalin to take immediate action to resolve the issue. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all essential items are distributed smoothly and without shortages, as ration shops are crucial for meeting the basic needs of the poor and underprivileged in Tamil Nadu.
