Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai emphasized the significant contributions of the BJP-led central government to the state’s development projects over the past decade. In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Annamalai detailed the various projects and funding allocations that have been provided to Tamil Nadu from 2014 to 2024, amounting to Rs 10.76 lakh crore.
One of the key projects mentioned by Annamalai is the East Coast Road expansion, which was a major election promise of the DMK. He highlighted that the ongoing work for this project is being implemented with a substantial allocation of Rs 9,386 crore from the Centre.
“Has Chief Minister M K Stalin forgotten or trying to hide the Rs 5,800 crore allocation for the Chennai port-Maduravoyal elevated expressway project, another election assurance of the DMK,” Annamalai queried, pointing out the significant central funding for another crucial infrastructure project in the state.
Annamalai also listed several other projects funded by the Union government in Tamil Nadu over the past ten years, reinforcing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to meeting the state’s developmental aspirations. He asserted that future projects and aspirations of Tamil Nadu would continue to be fulfilled under Modi’s leadership.
The BJP leader’s remarks come in response to Chief Minister Stalin’s recent statements, in which he expressed hope that the Centre would address the expectations of Tamil Nadu by approving state-specific projects in the upcoming Union budget for 2024-25. Annamalai criticized the DMK government for its focus on criticism rather than performing its duties, urging them to change their attitude and acknowledge the central government’s contributions.
As the political discourse continues, the BJP and DMK remain locked in a debate over the development and allocation of resources in Tamil Nadu, highlighting the ongoing tussle between state and central government priorities.
