A case has been registered against a YouTuber and two YouTube channels for allegedly spreading defamatory content about actor Vishal.
South Indian Artistes’ Association (SIAA) President and veteran actor Nassar filed the complaint at the Teynampet police station in Chennai.
In his complaint, Nassar stated that during the promotional event of Vishal’s recent movie Mark Antony, a YouTuber named Che Guevara had made false claims in interviews. The YouTuber alleged that Vishal’s health had deteriorated due to excessive alcohol and substance abuse, leading to trembling in his hands and legs.
Nassar emphasized that these allegations are baseless, untrue, and intended to tarnish Vishal’s reputation. He demanded strict action against the YouTuber and the channels that published the defamatory interview.
Based on the complaint, the Teynampet police registered a case under three sections of the Indian Penal Code against YouTuber Che Guevara and the YouTube channels Kings World News and U Tamil Udhappu. An investigation is currently underway.
The incident highlights concerns over the spread of unverified information on digital platforms and its impact on individuals’ reputations.
