Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader Seeman has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for upholding the pride of the Tamil language.

Speaking at a private university event in Kattankulathur, Chengalpattu district, Seeman emphasized the greatness of Tamil and its historical significance.

Seeman asserted that no poet was greater than Subramania Bharathi, who had mastered multiple languages and declared Tamil as the sweetest of all. He criticized the preference for English over Tamil, highlighting Tamil’s ancient linguistic heritage with the existence of Tolkappiyam, a grammar text that predates the English language by over a thousand years.

Seeman questioned the superiority of English and argued that it has borrowed significantly from Tamil. He criticized Tamils who prioritize English while neglecting their mother tongue.

He lauded PM Modi for promoting Tamil on the global stage, quoting the Prime Minister’s statement that Tamil is one of the world’s oldest languages and a matter of pride for India. Seeman also noted that people from various countries are eager to learn Tamil, further proving its global significance.

He concluded by stating that a person who neglects their mother tongue, regardless of how many languages they learn, remains intellectually impoverished. He compared this to neglecting one’s own mother while feeding thousands of others, arguing that such actions would be meaningless.
