The Supreme Court has allowed the voter list revision in Bihar to continue but raised serious questions about its fairness. It asked the Election Commission and Bihar government why only voters added after 2003 must re-verify and under what law this is allowed. The court also questioned why common ID proofs like Aadhaar and voter ID are not accepted. It has sought replies and will hear the case again soon.
The move, challenged by MP Mahua Moitra and the Association for Democratic Reforms, has drawn criticism from the INDI Alliance, who claim it is politically motivated and could affect free and fair elections, especially with key polls in West Bengal approaching.
