At least 20 people, including five journalists, were killed when Israeli strikes hit Nasser hospital in southern Gaza on Monday.
The attack targeted the facility in Khan Younis, where reporters and medics had gathered, raising fresh concerns over press safety during the conflict.
Palestinian health officials said the first strike killed cameraman Hussam al-Masri, a Reuters contractor, near a live broadcasting point on the upper floor of the hospital. Moments later, a second strike hit the same site, killing other journalists, rescue workers and medics who rushed to assist.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuâs office described the incident as a “tragic mishap,” saying the country valued the work of journalists and medical staff. He stressed that Israelâs war was directed at Hamas. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed it had struck the hospital area and announced an internal enquiry.
