Trump repeats claim of stopping India-Pak nuclear war

Washington, Aug 28: US President Donald Trump has again claimed that he stopped a nuclear war between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack. He also said “seven jets or maybe more” were shot down during the four-day conflict but did not name which side lost them.
“India and Pakistan were going to end up in a nuclear war if I didn’t stop them. I saw them fighting. Then I saw seven jets shot down. That’s a lot of jets,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday.
Trump said he personally pressured Prime Minister Narendra Modi to agree to a ceasefire. He claimed he warned Modi of steep tariffs and delays in trade deals if the situation got worse.
“I spoke to a terrific man, the Prime Minister of India. The hatred was tremendous,” he said. “I told him, I don’t want to make a trade deal with you if you go to war. Call me back tomorrow, but we will put tariffs so high, your head will spin.”
Trump has made similar claims in the past, but neither India nor Pakistan has confirmed his version of events.
