Pakistan’s security agencies have arrested four militants belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in connection with the suicide bombing outside the Islamabad District Judicial Complex earlier this week. The attack, which occurred on Tuesday, killed 12 people and injured 36 others.

The arrests were made through a joint operation by the Intelligence Bureau Division and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). One of the arrested militants, Sajidullah alias Sheena, confessed that the attack was orchestrated by TTP Commander Saeedur Rehman alias Daadullah, who communicated via the Telegram app to plan a suicide bombing with maximum casualties among law enforcement agencies.

The suicide bomber, identified as an Afghan national from the Nangarhar province, crossed into Pakistan from Afghanistan and was assisted by the militants in Islamabad.

The explosive vest used was sourced from the city of Peshawar under Daadullah’s instructions.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi revealed that the attacks underscore Pakistan’s deteriorating security situation and highlighted the challenges posed by militant groups operating with alleged support from Afghan territory.

The government continues investigations with more arrests expected. The TTP claimed responsibility, targeting officials associated with Pakistan’s judicial system, and warned of continued attacks until adherence to Sharia law.
