Families, relatives, and friends of nine deceased from the Karur stampede appeared before CBI officials for questioning at the Karur Collectorate premises. The stampede occurred on September 27 at Velusamypuram during a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally addressed by actor-politician Vijay, claiming 41 lives and injuring over 110 others. CBI Probe ProgressCBI officials, acting on Supreme Court orders, continue investigating the tragedy described as shaking the national conscience. They previously questioned over 20 ambulance drivers and owners summoned earlier, with the agency having re-registered the FIR and visited the site. The team, led by officers like SP Praveen Kumar, is gathering statements at the Public Works Department’s tourist bungalow within the Collectorate. Victims’ kin faced detailed queries as part of the expanded probe into crowd management lapses during the event. The Supreme Court mandated CBI involvement on October 13, halting prior state investigations and forming a monitoring committee. This session marks continued efforts to establish accountability in the high-profile case. @@@
