Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi on Monday called upon citizens to place the nation above all else and work collectively towards building a self-reliant and developed India by 2047, marking 100 years of Independence.
In his Republic Day message, he paid rich tributes to freedom fighters and the architects of the Constitution, saying their sacrifices laid the foundation for a strong and vibrant democracy.
Describing democracy as India’s living heritage, the Governor said it is reflected not just in institutions but in everyday life. He noted that Tamil Nadu has been a major beneficiary of various national development initiatives, particularly in infrastructure, connectivity and economic growth, while also witnessing a renewed national recognition of Tamil language and culture.
Ravi said India’s progress in recent years demonstrated the strength of cooperative federalism and collective resolve. He pointed out that technological innovation, start-ups, manufacturing and digital governance were transforming the country and creating new opportunities, especially for the youth.
Calling upon students, women, farmers, fishermen, artisans and entrepreneurs to actively participate in nation-building, the Governor urged people to unleash their creativity and enterprise. He said achieving the vision of a developed Bharat by 2047 would require unity, discipline and a shared commitment to public good, reiterating that the journey forward must be guided by the principle of “Nation First.”
Earlier, Ravi unfurled national flag and the event was attended by Chief Minister M.K Stalin, Cabinet Ministers, government officials among others.
Security was tightened across Tamilnadu and Marina stretch was declared as red zone.
