Chennai, Mar 19:
Chief Minister and DMK chief M K Stalin continued the crucial process of interviewing party aspirants for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, with the exercise entering its third day at the DMK headquarters in Chennai.
On the third day, candidates from several southern districts participated in the interview process. Aspirants from regions including Madurai, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, and Theni appeared before the leadership seeking party tickets.
The interviews are part of a structured selection process aimed at identifying strong and winnable candidates for the 2026 elections.
Several sitting ministers and senior leaders of the DMK also attended the interview sessions. The presence of experienced leaders highlights the importance the party is placing on careful candidate selection and constituency-level assessment.
The interaction allows the leadership to evaluate both sitting representatives and new aspirants on performance and public connect.
During the interviews, candidates are being assessed on multiple factors including their political experience, grassroots reach, public service record, and ability to secure victory.
The process is designed to ensure that candidates not only align with the partyâs ideology but also have strong electoral prospects.
Unlike previous elections, the DMK has adopted a group interview format this time. This approach enables discussions on constituency dynamics, implementation of welfare schemes, and local development issues.
The ongoing interviews are seen as a key step in the DMKâs election strategy as the state gears up for a high-stakes electoral battle. The leadershipâs direct involvement reflects the partyâs focus on transparency, merit, and organizational strength in selecting its candidates.
