Chennai, Mar 28:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has firmly stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not made any attempt to enter into alliance talks with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor‑turned‑politician Vijay, ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
In a recent clarification, Shah dismissed speculation about a possible coalition between the BJP and TVK, saying that no discussions or negotiations have taken place with Vijay’s party for seat sharing or electoral cooperation.
Reports and social‑media rumours suggesting that BJP leaders had approached TVK for an alliance were incorrect, he said, stressing that the party’s focus remains on its existing electoral strategy.
Shah’s remarks come amid widespread political conjecture over changing alliance dynamics in Tamil Nadu, where TVK has been attracting attention with its independent campaign vision and has refused to formally join either the BJP‑led NDA or the DMK alliance.
Earlier reports had even suggested that TVK was offered a sizeable number of seats and key posts as part of potential seat‑sharing deals — claims that both TVK and BJP leaders have since denied.
