Tiruchy, Apr 2:

Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, actor-turned-politician Vijay, leader of the TVK, filed his nomination from the Tiruchy East constituency and launched a fiery campaign against the ruling DMK government.

Addressing a large gathering of supporters here after filing his papers, Vijay accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and his party of making repeated false promises and failing to deliver on commitments, framing his campaign around accountability, transparency, and direct action.

Speaking at the event, Vijay said, “The next phase of lies is already ready with the Chief Minister. Giving false promises and misleading the people — that is what M.K. Stalin and the DMK do. But TVK will fulfill all the promises it makes to the people.” He highlighted multiple governance failures, questioning the administration’s handling of public welfare, employment, and civic amenities.

Vijay cited specific examples to underline his critique. He pointed to the plight of a schoolgirl in a village forced to study without a proper toilet facility, and alleged corruption in municipal recruitment, saying, “A minister in Tiruchy collected crores in bribes for jobs in the municipal department.”

He also criticized the government over fuel shortages, explaining how the lack of cooking gas has forced many tea shops and small eateries to shut down, adversely affecting livelihoods. He wondered why the Chief Minister made no efforts to go to national capital to resolve the issue.

He also questioned unfulfilled election promises on college assistant professor appointments, NEET cancellation, and employment guarantees, asserting that the government’s failures directly impacted ordinary citizens.

Vijay’s speech emphasized that TVK’s approach would be different. “We will not mislead the people. Every promise we make will be fulfilled. We will stand for the public, fight corruption, and ensure development reaches every household,” he declared.

The TVK leader’s campaign in Tiruchy East, marked by sharp criticism of DMK’s governance and vivid examples of public hardships, aims to mobilize voters frustrated with unfulfilled promises while positioning Vijay as a leader committed to delivering real change.
