Washington, Apr 16:
The United States Navy has confirmed the crash of one of its most advanced surveillance drones, the MQ-4C Triton, in the Persian Gulf during ongoing tensions in West Asia.
According to official disclosures, the high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft—valued at around $200–240 million—went down on April 9 during a mission near the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.
The drone reportedly transmitted an emergency “code 7700” distress signal before losing contact and disappearing from radar, indicating a serious in-flight emergency prior to the crash.
