Chennai, July 23:
In a shocking incident, a middle-aged woman threw her three children into a farm well located behind the Integrated District Court complex and later ended her life by jumping into it following a family dispute at Thadangam village in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu last night.
Police identified the deceased as Amsa (35), wife of a construction worker Saravanan. She had tied stoned on the bodies of her children–daughters Jeevitha (16) and six year old Naveena, and three-year-old-son Kumaran–before throwing them into the well.
The villagers noticed the body of a woman floating in the well and alerted the police, who along with fire service and rescue department personnel rushed to the spot and found three more bodies of children in it and recovered them. with the assistance of fire and rescue service personnel. Police found stones tied to each of the bodies.
Inquiries revealed that the woman had left the house with her three children two days back following a heated argument with her husband. Since Amsa’s parents also lived in the same village, he was under the impression that she would have gone to their house and would return later.
However, as her whereabouts were not known, a frantic Saravanan and other family members searched them over the last two days when their bodies were recovered from the well which was located in a farm belonging to Amsa’s parents.
