Chennai, Oct 1:
The Madras High Court has dismissed the bail plea of police inspector Mohammed Buhari, who was arrested for allegedly threatening a businessman with being implicated in the Armstrong murder case and extorting ₹40 lakh from him.
Buhari, the inspector at Pallikaranai Police Station, and Srinivasan, a member of the Friends of Police organisation, were arrested by the Yanai Kavuni police on charges of allegedly threatening Chennai-based businessman Akhil that he would be implicated in the murder case of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state president K Armstrong and extorting ₹40 lakh from him.
Buhari had earlier approached the Chennai Principal Sessions Court seeking bail twice, but both petitions were dismissed. Subsequently, he moved the Madras High Court seeking bail.
The petition came up for hearing before Justice N Ramesh on Thursday. After hearing the case, the judge dismissed Buhari’s bail petition.
