‘My job was to be worthy of the faith people placed in me’: Ranbir on playing Lord Rama
Actor Ranbir Kapoor says playing Lord Rama in Ramayana was not merely a film role but a responsibility, as he sought to live up to the faith audiences have placed in the character.
In a behind-the-scenes video released by the makers, Ranbir said he reminded himself every day that his task was to be worthy of the faith people had placed in the role. He also stressed that portraying Lord Rama ultimately comes down to simplicity and belief.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. Arun Govil, who famously played Lord Rama in Ramanand Sagar’s television Ramayan, appears as King Dasharatha.
The first part of the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, with the second instalment planned for 2027.
