Tiruchy, Oct 14:
The We the Leaders Movement is preparing leaders across all 234 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu and will field candidates in the upcoming local body elections, its founder K Annamalai said on Tuesday.
Speaking to members of the movement after planting 15,000 saplings on 11 acres in Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district, Annamalai said the initiative aimed to bring about social change and promote responsible political participation.
He expressed concern over declining water resources in the Cauvery Delta region, warning that the trend could threaten agricultural production and food security. He said elected representatives should focus on building a healthy society and ensuring public welfare.
Referring to the political situation in Tamil Nadu, Annamalai said politics had deteriorated and claimed that the We the Leaders Movement would promote clean and people-oriented politics. He cited the resignation of AIADMK MLAs and their subsequent election under the TVK banner while commenting on the prevailing political scenario.
Annamalai said the movement would eventually transform into a political party and welcome people from different backgrounds into politics, ensuring broader participation in the electoral process.
The movement was preparing leaders in all 234 Assembly constituencies to demonstrate what he described as responsible political conduct, he said.
“We want to bring changes in every village. The movement will field candidates in the upcoming local body polls and certainly bring change in society,” Annamalai said.
