Chennai: In a move that will be beneficial not only for the residents of Nanganallur in the city suburb but also those residing in St Thomas Mount in the city and beyond, Alandur MLA T M Anbarasan has presented two underground drainage de-silting equipment fitted Tata Ace to Chennai Corporation zone 12 and the associated Metro Water Department.

The presentation ceremony took place at Alandur Metro Water office opposite Anbarasan’s MLA office recently.

Speaking to News Today, Anbarasan’s MLA office incharge Sethu Senthil, said, “A total investment of Rs 24.24 lakh from the MLA’s constituency development funds has gone into the procurement of the two vehicles and the de-silting equipment they sport. The vehicles will be used by officials of Corporation and Metro Water Department to remove any clogged drains in the neighbourhood resulting from the upcoming rains.”

The event witnessed the participation of Alandur MLA Anbarasan, Rajya Sabha Member R S Bharathi, Saidapet MLA M Subramanian, Ex-Councillors Gunalan and N Chandran.

It is to be noted that just around a couple of months ago, after the year-long efforts of Bharathi, the traffic signal on Anna Salai near OTA was reinstalled and became functional. Bharathi personally sent a letter to Greater Chennai Traffic Deputy Commissioner last year.

He didn’t leave with that but even consented to release his constituency’s funds. Following this, officials fixed a new signal there.

Bharathi along with Anbarasan also recently opened a ticket vending machine at Meenambakkam railway station.

The sewage pumping station at Nilamangai Nagar is another development that has taken shape in recent times owing to Anbarasan’s efforts.
