Chennai: “It was my sole decision to come out of the Varma movie and no one forced me to do so. I have released this statement just to refute the huge number of wrong information that were floated against me, especially by the production house that I have been fired from the project,” said Tamil movie director Bala.
He released this statement on Saturday night after reports emerged that the production house E4 Entertainment has fired director Bala who was assigned the task to remake Telugu hit movie, Arjun Reddy in Tamil.
“I left the project only to protect my creativity freedom. I spoke about this to the production house and we had formally signed a pact on 22 January itself. Taking into account the future of Dhruv Vikram, I will not speak further and blow up this issue,” Bala added.
E4 Entertainment formally announced recently that it has decided not to release Varma by director Bala, after watching its first copy. The entire movie will be shot again, it said.
“We at E4 Entertainment are not at all happy with the final version handed over to us. Due to various creative and other differences, we have decided not to release this version. Instead, we will start afresh, and shoot a new Tamil version of ‘Arjun Reddy’ with Dhruv as the main lead by staying true to the soul and intention of the original,” a press release from the production house read.
The makers announced that the new cast and crew will be announced shortly. “Despite this unfortunate turn of events which has cost us heavily, our love for wanting to see this cult film in Tamil has not diminished in any way. We will therefore work tirelessly as a new united team towards a June 2019 release,” it added.
The shocking part of the story was that Megha Chowdhury, the female lead in the movie, is clueless about the development. “I’m completely unaware of this. This information is news to me. I will talk to the concerned people soon,” she was quoted saying.
