Chennai: Going on a holiday proved too costly for a family in Thirumullaivoyal in the city as thieves decamped with gold, silver and cash from their residence.
According to the police, Sekar (64), a building contractor lived with his family at JAK Nagar, Thirumullaivoyal. He had gone to Malaysia with his family on 12 February and returned this morning. To his shock, he found the locks of his house broken.
He told police that six sovereigns of gold, half kg silver and Rs 50,000 were missing. Thirumullaivoyal police have registered a case.
