Bengaluru: The mortal remains of Kachana Halli Govindappa Hanumantharayappa, Kachana Halli Munibyrappa Lakshminarayana, Muniyappa Rangappa and Hanumaiah Shivakumar were brought yesterday, while that of Shettipalya Ramakrishnappa Nagaraj arrived on Tuesday. The bodies were received M B Patil, Karnataka Home minister, at the airport and they were later taken to their houses.
The five were killed in the deadly Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka, in which a total of 359 people were killed and more than 500 injured.
JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and hundreds of party workers paid their respects to partymen Rangappa, Hanumantharayappa, Lakshinarayana and Shivakumar.
Of the 10 persons from Karnataka at least seven of them belonged to JD(S) party.
The party workers who had gone on the trip to the island nation after the election campaigns and when the blast took place they were close to the dining table as they sat for breakfast at the Shangri-La hotel in Colombo, one of the major targets of the deadliest terror attacks in the island in recent times.
