Ex-close aide of Mamata joins BJP, calls it ‘golden moment’

New Delhi: Former Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi today joined the BJP.

The change of course by the 70-year-old former close aide of TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee comes merely weeks ahead of the West Bengal Assembly polls, the run up to which is already seeing a bitter battle of attrition between the two political parties.

He joined the BJP in the presence of party president J P Nadda and other senior leaders.

Moments after joining the BJP ahead of the Assembly polls, Trivedi said, “Golden moment I had been waiting for.”

Meanwhile, amid the verbal fight between the BJP and the TMC in West Bengal, BJP member and TMC turncoat Suvendhu Adhikari attacked Mamata Banerjee for calling BJP leaders outsiders.

He took a dig at Banerjee for contesting from Nandigram saying ‘We want the son of Midnapore, not outsiders.’

The BJP is likely to release its first list of candidates for West Bengal on 7 March after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Brigade Rally in Kolkata.
