New Delhi: With the farmers’ protest against the Centre’s farms laws entering its 100th day, the farmer unions have asserted that their movement is not getting over and they are ‘going strong’.
Hundreds of farmers riding trolleys reached the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway from the Singhu border today.
The farmers were slated to block the 135-km-long Western Peripheral Expressway, also known as KMP Expressway, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to mark 100 days of protest against the Centre’s farm laws.
Besides blocking highways, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, an umbrella organisationof various farmer bodies, has given a call to free the toll plazas near the highways that are to be blocked and wave black flags from offices and residences across the country.
The protests are continuing since 26 November last year and in these 100 days of the agitation, farmers mainly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh have braved harsh weather conditions while remaining firm on their demands.
As the capital braces for scorching summers and the harvesting season begins, farmers today asserted that they had no plans to turn back until their demands were met.
