Chennai: The Indian and French Space Agencies have signed an agreement for coooperation for the country’s first human space flight programme Gaganyaan.
ISRO said in its website, the agreement was signed at the ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru between Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Government of Republic of France, and ISRO Chairman Dr K Sivan in the presence of senior officials.
Ambassador of France to India, Consul General at Bangalore and a few other officials accompanied the Minister.
“An Implementing Arrangement between ISROās Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC) and French National Space Agency (CNES) for cooperation concerning Human Space flight programme, specifically on sharing of expertise in space medicine, was exchanged during this visit,” ISRO said.
Evolution and achievements of Indian space programme and India-France space cooperation and details of the recent space reforms announced by the Indian government were presented to the Minister.
The Minister with his delegation also visited ISROās HSFC and the details of Indiaās Human space flight programme āGAGANYAANā, including the full-size model of Crew Module were explained to the Minister.
As per the terms of the agreement, CNES will train India’s flight physicians and CAPCOM mission control teams in France at the CADMOS centre for the development of microgravity applications and space operations at CNES in Toulouse and at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne, Germany, the CNES said.
