Chennai: Tamilnadu Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan has said the demand of the political parties in the State to have an all-party meeting in the wake of the Karnataka government announcing the initial allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for the construction of Mekedatu dam across river Cauvery was just.
The State government will take a decision on passing a resolution in the Assembly based on the situation, he said.
Duraimurugan also said people of Tamilnadu will not allow a brick for Mekedatu dam.
Meanwhile, expressing his government’s commitment to building Mekedatu project across river Cauvery, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai while ruling out negotiations with neighbouring Tamilnadu, on Tuesday said, he will be calling an all-party meeting soon, to discuss the legal repercussions and going ahead with the work.
