Chennai: Tamilnadu has recorded 147 new coronavirus cases with Chennai and Theni districts accounting for a death each due to the infection, thus taking the tally to 34,51,469 and the toll to 38,021.

The new cases include one returnee each from the UAE and Andhra Pradesh. A total of 41,648 samples were tested during the day.

So far, 34,51,469 persons have been infected and as on date, 1,903 persons are under treatment, either at home or in healthcare facility, according to the daily bulletin from the Directorate of Public Health.

Chennai, which has also been registering a steady decline, recorded a maximum of 47 fresh infections followed by Coimbatore at 17 and Chengalpattu 12.

Ariyalyur, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Mayiladuthurai, Karur, Krishnagiri, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Perambalur, Tirupathur and Villupuram recorded no fresh cases.

A total of 387 persons were declared to have recovered from the infection . So far, 34,11,545 persons have been discharged post-treatment.
