Chennai: Senior Congress MLA from Bhiloda constituency in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, Anil Joshiyara passed away at a private hospital in Chennai today due to complications of Covid-19.
Deputy Leader of the Opposition Party in the Gujarat Assembly Shailesh Parmar informed the House about the legislator’s death.
‘Just now, we have received the information about the loss of our senior leader and the sitting MLA from Bhiloda, Anil Joshiyara. I request the House to observe two minutes silence and the House to be adjourned for the day,’ said Shailesh Parmar.
Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi, said, ‘We also heard about the legislator’s death and we are deeply grieved by the loss and support Parmar’s proposal and request the Speaker to adjourn the House.’
Joshiyara, who was 69, was a five-time MLA from Bhiloda (ST) seat in Arvalli district. Joshiyara had contracted coronavirus in January and was shifted from a private hospital in Ahmedabad to the Tamilnadu capital a month ago for advanced treatment of the lungs.
A surgeon, Joshiyara was first elected as an MLA from Bhiloda seat in 1995 on a BJP ticket and had served as Health Minister between 1996 and 1997 in a government headed by Shankersinh Vaghela.
