Chennai: Tamilnadu government has said it is committed to support all the 1,890 medical students, who returned from war-torn Ukraine, to pursue their studies either in the country or places where the syllabus is similar to the one followed in the eastern European nation.

Medical and Family Welfare Minister Ma Subramanian told the Assembly that the students had expressed willingness to continue their studies either in Tamilnadu or any Indian State or even in a country, which followed Ukraine’s syllabus.

Pointing out the Union government’s move to facilitate the students to continue their studies in Ukraine’s neighbouring countries like Poland, Hungary, Romania and Kazakhstan which follow a similar syllabus, the minister assured that the TN government would extend support to the students to pursue their studies.

Recalling the steps taken by the State to ensure their safe return from Ukraine, Subramanian pointed out that Chief Minister M K Stalin last month wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged him to allow these students to continue their education in India. He reiterated the request at a meeting with Modi last month, he said.
