In a recent development within the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, a delegation of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MLAs called on Speaker M Appavu to submit a letter from the party’s general secretary and leader of the opposition, Edappadi K Palaniswami. The purpose of their visit was to request the replacement of the expelled AIADMK leader, O Panneerselvam, with the Opposition’s deputy leader, R B Udhayakumar. K A Sengottaiyan, a prominent AIADMK leader, shared insights into the delegation’s mission, stating, “We have requested the Speaker to recognise Udhayakumar as the deputy leader of the opposition and make changes in the seating arrangement. The Speaker told us that the matter is under his consideration. We requested him to convey his response in writing to the Leader of the Opposition.” This move by AIADMK comes in response to the Speaker’s announcement of the next assembly session scheduled for October 9.
