Lion & deer safari at Vandalur Zoo

As part of Wildlife Week, State Forest Minister M Mathiventhan inaugurated a captivating addition to the Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur, unveiling a brand-new Lion and Deer Safari facility. A press release from the zoo management highlighted that the safari area now houses three lions and four lionesses, with two of them recently relocated from Bannerghatta and Lucknow biological parks. The safari area, spanning an expansive 147 acres, offers visitors a chance to witness these majestic big cats up close. An entry charge of Rs. 150 for adults and Rs. 30 for children below five years of age is required, in addition to the standard zoo entry fees. A dedicated pathway has been carved out for safari visitors, winding through dense trees and creating an immersive experience. Renovations include safety walls, compound walls, ponds, and water bodies within the safari areas. To make the safari even more comfortable, air-conditioned buses have been procured. In addition to the Lion and Deer Safari, Minister Mathiventhan also introduced a QR code ticketing system, simplifying the entry process for visitors. Furthermore, a new veterinary facility was unveiled to ensure the well-being of sick animals within the zoo.
