The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), at the helm of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has unveiled its strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu by announcing the allocation of constituencies to its allies.
In a statement issued by BJP state president K Annamalai, it was revealed that the BJP will contest in 19 Lok Sabha seats independently, while four other parties will contest under the Lotus symbol, representing the NDA alliance.
The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has been allocated ten constituencies, including Kancheepuram, Arakkonam, Dharmapuri, Arani, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Salem, Dindigul, Mayiladuthurai, and Cuddalore, to contest under its Mango symbol.
The Tamil Maanila Congress (M) will contest in Erode, Sriperumbudur, and Thoothukudi constituencies, while TTV Dhinakaran’s Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) will vie for seats in Tiruchirappalli and Theni.
Other parties within the NDA alliance have also been allotted constituencies. The Sivagangai Lok Sabha constituency has been allocated to Devanathan Yadav’s India Makkal Kalvi Munnetra Kazhagam, and the Tenkasi (R) constituency has been assigned to John Pandian’s Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam.
Additionally, former chief minister and expelled AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam has been allocated the Ramanathapuram constituency within the NDA alliance. However, Panneerselvam will contest independently, with his symbol to be allocated by the Election Commission of India at a later date.
The BJP itself will contest in a range of constituencies across Tamil Nadu, including Tiruvallur, Chennai North, Chennai Central, Chennai South, Krishnagiri, Tiruvannamalai, Namakkal, Tiruppur, The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Karur, Chidambaram, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, and Kanniyakumari.
