The State BJP unit in Tamil Nadu has raised serious concerns over alleged voter manipulation orchestrated by the ruling DMK party during the recent Lok Sabha elections. In a statement issued by spokesperson ANS Prasad, the BJP demanded that the Election Commission of India (ECI) conduct repolling in constituencies where voters were reportedly removed en masse from the voter list at the last moment.
Prasad highlighted instances in Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Pollachi, Chennai South, Tiruppur, Chennai North, and Chennai Central Lok Sabha constituencies, where he claimed several lakh votes, particularly those of North Indians and certain communities, were eliminated. He accused the DMK of misusing government machinery and exerting influence over officials to manipulate the electoral process.
According to Prasad, state government employees and district collectors, who were under the control of the DMK-led state government, were allegedly involved in the preparation of electoral rolls, verification processes, and the publication of final voter lists. He further asserted that DMK officials had threatened repercussions against those who behaved fairly during the elections.
The BJP spokesperson stressed the importance of upholding democratic principles and ensuring that every eligible voter has the right to cast their vote without interference or manipulation. He called on the ECI to take stringent action against officials responsible for the alleged anti-democratic acts and urged for repolling in affected constituencies to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
