A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday evening as a 53-year-old conductor of a private bus lost his life after allegedly slipping and falling off the footboard of a moving bus. The deceased, identified as Murugan from Vandavasi in Tiruvannamalai district, was serving as a conductor on a bus operating between Poonamallee and Kanchipuram.

The unfortunate incident occurred around 7:30 pm when Murugan was standing on the steps of the bus bound for Kanchipuram. In a sudden turn of events, the driver, identified as Sagadevan (49), applied brakes abruptly to avoid a collision with a car. As a result, Murugan lost his balance and fell to the ground from the moving bus.

The fall caused Murugan to sustain grievous injuries to his head, and despite being rushed to a nearby private hospital, he was declared brought dead upon arrival. The tragic turn of events left the community in shock and mourning the loss of a dedicated bus conductor.

Police authorities swiftly responded to the scene, recovering Murugan’s body and transferring it to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and investigations are currently underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the fatal accident.
