In a devastating natural disaster, massive landslides triggered by torrential rains in Wayanad have claimed at least 123 lives and left 128 injured on Tuesday. The catastrophic event has left many residents trapped under debris, sparking fears that the death toll may rise as rescue operations continue.

Rescue teams are working around the clock, battling challenging conditions to locate and save survivors. The intensity of the rainfall and the extent of the landslides have made the rescue efforts extremely difficult. Despite these obstacles, the teams remain determined to find and assist those still trapped.

According to government sources, the official death count currently stands at 123. The Kerala government has responded to the tragedy by declaring two days of state mourning on July 30 and 31. In respect to the lives lost and the ongoing crisis, all state government events have been postponed.

The landslides have not only caused significant loss of life but have also resulted in extensive property damage, displacing numerous families and disrupting the lives of many. The local community and authorities are rallying together to provide immediate aid and support to those affected.

State officials and emergency services are urging the public to stay safe and follow the instructions provided by the authorities. The government is also coordinating with various organizations to ensure that relief and rehabilitation efforts are carried out efficiently and effectively.

The tragic incident in Wayanad is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of natural disasters and the importance of preparedness and swift response in mitigating their effects.
