Washington, July 31: The Kamala Harris campaign has reported an impressive 360,000 volunteer sign-ups, reflecting a substantial boost in grassroots support as she campaigns against former President Donald Trump. This surge in enthusiasm follows Harris’s recent declaration as the Democratic Party’s presumptive presidential nominee after President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race.
Harris is poised to make history as the first woman, first Indian-American, first Asian, and first Black president if elected. Her campaign has recently experienced a significant financial boost, raising $200 million in just one week, with a substantial portion coming from new donors.
Dan Kanninen, Harris for President’s Battleground States director, highlighted the campaign’s rapid growth: “We’ve seen enormous enthusiasm, with 360,000 new volunteers joining us and $200 million raised. We are focusing on translating this enthusiasm into action, particularly in the Blue Wall and Sunbelt regions where we see multiple pathways to the 270 electoral votes needed.”
Kanninen emphasized Harris’s strong stance on reproductive rights and her appeal across diverse communities, including traditionally conservative areas and younger voters. He acknowledged the challenging race ahead against Trump, stressing that the campaign remains vigilant and determined.
The campaign’s strategy includes scaling up efforts in key states and continuing outreach. Harris will address a crowd in Atlanta on Tuesday, laying out her vision for the future while continuing to critique Trump’s agenda. Over the weekend, the campaign mobilized 2,500 volunteers in Georgia, with significant turnout in traditionally conservative areas.
As the race intensifies, Harris’s campaign is set to leverage its growing volunteer base and fundraising momentum to secure victory in the upcoming election.
