The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against four associates of IS terrorist Jameesha Mubin in connection with the Coimbatore car bomb explosion that occurred outside the Kottai Eswaran Temple.The incident took place on October 23, 2022, when a car bomb exploded in front of the Kottai Eswaran Temple in Coimbatore, resulting in the death of Jameesha Mubin, who was identified as the mastermind behind the attack.
Following the incident, the NIA launched an investigation and arrested 17 individuals believed to be associates of Mubin. These suspects were subsequently detained in Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai.
Among those arrested is Jameel Basha Umari, a resident of Chennai, who was reportedly involved in organizing secret meetings and recruiting individuals for the terrorist organization through Arabic language classes. Another suspect, Mohammed Hussain from Ponvizha Nagar, Coimbatore, and Irshad from Kuniyamuthur, were both Arabic teachers at a local madrasa in Coimbatore and allegedly conducted classes related to terrorism.
Abdul Rahman Umari, a resident of Pollachi, was identified as a close associate of Jameesha Mubin and played a significant role in executing the plot.
The NIA filed the chargesheet against these individuals yesterday in a special court in Poonamallee, Chennai, further intensifying the legal proceedings against those involved in the Coimbatore car bombing.
