Sivaraman, a 35-year-old man accused in a high-profile sexual assault case in Krishnagiri, died in Salem Government Hospital. Sivaraman, a former coordinator of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) and a fake NCC instructor, had been arrested for sexually harassing students at a private school in Kandhikuppam, Krishnagiri.
The incident that led to his arrest occurred two weeks ago during a fake NCC camp where a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted. Following his arrest, another POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) case was filed against him for allegedly assaulting another student.
Sivaraman had earlier attempted suicide by consuming rat poison after a dispute with his wife on July 11th. Though he was treated and released from the hospital, he made a second suicide attempt by ingesting rat poison again, fearing arrest. Despite receiving medical attention, Sivaraman succumbed to the effects of the poison at the hospital.
