BJP State Convener H Raja on Friday called for the immediate dismissal of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President K Selvaperunthagai, following allegations linking him to the murder of BSP state president K Armstrong. Speaking to reporters during a free helmet distribution event in Triplicane, held in celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Raja demanded that the Congress high command sack Selvaperunthagai from all party responsibilities.
Raja alleged that the recent accusation by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) confirming Selvaperunthagai’s involvement in Armstrong’s murder was proof of the TNCC chief’s criminal background. “The BJP urges the Congress leadership to act swiftly and remove Selvaperunthagai from his role as TNCC president. This is a serious issue, and the DMK government must take immediate action on these allegations,” he added.
The senior BJP leader also used the occasion to criticize Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks against the Indian government during his recent speeches abroad. “It is shameful for a leader of the opposition to tarnish the image of India on foreign soil. Such actions are unacceptable,” Raja said.
Turning his attention to Congress veteran and Erode East MLA EVKS Elangovan, Raja mocked his political relevance, stating that Elangovan became an MLA only due to the unfortunate demise of his son, Thirumagan Evera. “Elangovan is irrelevant in Tamil Nadu politics and owes his position to a tragic circumstance,” he remarked.
Raja also commented on the controversy surrounding the use of adulterated ghee in the preparation of the famous ‘laddu prasadam’ at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala. “This incident highlights the need for only those of the Hindu faith to manage temple administrations. The government should not allow individuals of other faiths to control Hindu temples,” Raja said. He further called for strict action against those responsible for the adulteration.
